So..why shouldn't women lift the toilet seat after they are done versus men putting in down?

I mean I have heard this all my life..and it is much more likely that I will need it in the up position versus the down position. So, why aren't we saying women are the insensitive ones??

I mean..jus axin.

We don't need to lift the seat..you do because splashes would be made. Women just sit on the toilet and yeah...we don't splatter anywhere.

I always use the rule of thumb to put both the ring and cover down. I find the toilet / bathroom looks better this way. This goes along the line of making the bed. Sure you could just not make it, after all "you're just going to sleep in it again" but it looks much better doing so.

I do find the argument that "the ring should be put up/down" to be selfish. I find putting the cover down to be the ultimate fairness as it requires everyone to lift it back and and put it back down. And it looks better for all.

Oddly, I don't actually recall living with a woman who was so anal about making sure the seat was down (pun intended). I sometimes wonder just how much living legend stereotype this really is and that we must be in a good place if this is what people have to argue about. =P

  • Interesting point, but I always thought the bigger problem was why do women fit the toilet roll so that the end hangs down at the back, where you can only reach it when you're actually sitting on the toilet?

  • What i want to know is... Who sits down on a toilet without first checking if the seat is down? O.o

The amount of times i hear a woman say she fell in, i mean, wouldn't you see it up as you walk in?

On another note, its not hard to shoot into a toilet seat that is put down... Even if you're a bad shot, we have toilet paper and anti-bacterial wipes to clean up spillage...

Source(s): I don't need to lift the seat... Just sayin'

Why would anyone leave the toilet seat up?? Don't you seat down to make number 2 anyway? I thought it was for sanitary reasons anyway. They say your supposed to flush with the lid down for hygienic purposes lol

Yeah, I never got that myself. Men prefer it up, women prefer it down, yet for some reason women always say that it should be down even though it is only useful to them and not to us. I would like to know a good reason why it should be down.

Best practice is for everyone to lower the LID and SEAT after using the facilities.

You do make a good argument. Maybe you can find a wife who pees standing up?
