Will You Pay this Tax?

UN considers imposing global taxes

http://rt.com/usa/news/un-global-tax-carbon-252/

Update:

@Torgo. You didn't read the whole story. There was more than just one tax mentioned. One for billionaires, one for all financial transactions, one for airline tickets, and one for carbon emissions.

Two responders MIGHT be correct in that the tax MIGHT have to go through Congress first, but are we sure the House of Representatives will remain the same? Additionally, it could be done through a treaty.

For those of you that appear to be "Globalist Utopians", you are the real scary people here and have yet to understand that aspects of human nature (greed and envy/covetousness/laziness) does not allow for a working utopia.

No because it will never pass congress.

<<Section. 7. All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.>>

"Fox News claims in an exclusive report published this week that among the global taxes slated to be considered by the UN this year are a 1 percent tax on billionaires around the world, a “tiny” tax on all financial transactions worldwide and even yet another fee tacked on to already heavily-taxed airline tickets."

Well, Fox News is the only source of this story, so I'm pretty sure it is false. Anyway, I'm not a billionaire so no, I would not pay this tax because I'm not a billionaire.

of the over 6 billion people on earth 1/3-1/4 live in abject poverty, no clean water, no toilets and no health care

this, in a world where the remaining 2/3 live better than the richest kings of ancient times.

there is more than enough energy from the sun to provide a comfortable life for everyone.

Obviously the world population CANNOT keep doubling every few decades. for the first time in human history over half live in cities instead of rural subsistence farms

we could easily make a decent life for all if there was the political will and just a reduction of greed, there would still be wealthy people, they just would not have Everything!

I could be wrong, but regardless of the relative merits or lack thereof of this proposal, I don't think the UN has the authority to enforce this tax; at least not in the United States.

I think its a great idea ~ as long as it doesn't become to hefty. The 1% tax on billionaires sounds okay, and if the transaction fee is as minimal as they insinuate, such as a tenth of a penny on every transaction made, it would be just fine.

In my opinion, they are moving ahead. They are being very thoughtful, and I would gladly accept such a tax.

I guess I would have to unless the US removed itself from the UN
