Am I selfish if I don't get my dog another dog friend?
I have a little toy poodle; the love of my life. I've tried to get her a new friend a couple of times but it did not work out......as one of the dogs were men aggressive and barked and growled at my son alot and we tried a cat but we have to have inside cats here in our park and it kept getting out. Our dog loves other dogs. I am very happy with just her; I can honestly say. I love other dogs. I am a pet care provider and love all animals. I give my little gal a ton of attention, she even sleeps with me, goes everywhere I go for the most part and doesn't mind sitting in the car if I have to run into places where she can't go. We are pretty tight. But........I feel kind of guilty not getting her an animal friend. I would love to hear stories of where one dog was enough and got along great with his/her people and lived happily ever after.........lol.........but, I do truly want your input..........thank you.
There are not alot of dog parks but there is doggie daycare around where we live. If I bring her, say, twice a week; will that be enough doggie socialization for her?

why not check and see if there are any dog parks or dog day care in your area and let your dog play with other dogs that way. i dont think its selfish to have just one. it gets plenty of love so i would check into like dog parks or dog day care where your dog and spend a day with other dogs once in a while.

I've always only had one dog at a time and have never had a problem with it.
Why do you feel guilty? If you're providing everything she needs to live a full healthy life she doesn't need a friend. YOU are her pack.
Have you tried dog parks? Or a doggy day care a few times a week? My GSD goes to the dog park almost everyday even though she pretty much ignores all the other dogs.
If you feel like you can take on another dog then that's great. But really, she's ok without another animal friend. If you decide to look into another dog make sure you work with a rescue (this would be your best bet in finding the perfect companion for her and your family) to find a good fit.

** Twice a week is fine. I would do like a Monday and Friday. Anything is better than nothing at all. She might really enjoy it.
