Been on the pill for 2 weeks now - am I safe?

I started using the pill (logynon) 2 weeks ago, and had sex last night, without a condom at first. Would the pill have started working by now?

Typically, you need to give birth control 3 months before you are "safe". But even on the pill you shouldn't have sex with a person who is not wearing a condom, especially if you don't know them because condoms can protect you against STDs.
