I'm neither an optimist or a pessimist i'm a realist. So if that glass was empty and I seen you filling it up half way then it's half full, If the glass was full and I seen you empty half of it out then it's half empty. I judge things on how they really are by facts and logic.

the cup is neither half full or half empty.... i am just waiting for the server to come and give me more water so the cup is full, then i drink it... and it becomes empty.....

think about it... who ever really ever has a half full or half empty glass? no one. if anything it is 3/4th full or only has ice in it and we are stuck waiting for the server....

if you look at life like that then its all good.... when the cup is full and we drink it down to 3/4th and someone fills the cup so it is full again then cool if we are really thirsty and we drink it all so there is only ice... its still not empty but that's when I steal someone else's cup and drink from theirs.... =P

That's a false dichotomy in my opinion. I find that there are advantages and disadvantages of pessimism and optimism depending on which point in a line of reasoning that preemption is involved in. During the initial consideration of a concept, optimism is beneficial, as pessimism reduces preconceived directions of inquiry. As that consideration moves forward to some kind of conclusion, pessimism becomes beneficial. Where incorrect lines of reasoning should be weeded out, and no conclusion should be considered "confirmed" preemptively.

As Aristotle once said- a man must know how to choose the mean and avoid the extremes on either side

Anything excessive is not too good.

I want to be positive since I have the initiative and have qualities that might benefit people if they take the time to understand me.

i am a realist. it depends on if i am trying to fill the cup or empty it. if i am trying to fill it, it is half full. if i am trying to empty it, it is half empty.
