for those who have lost a pet how did it affect your relationship with your girlfriend or wife?
Last week one of our 2 cats died of Kidney Failure at 17 years old. This cat came to us as a stray and was a great part of our life for 5 years. It has only been a week and both my girlfriend of 17 years and I are arguing and not talking to each other as often as when he was around. For those of you that have lost a pet how did it affect your relationship and what did you do to over come the arguing and not talking to each other? How long did you wait to get a another cat or dog or bird, etc?

I feel for you. We (husband and myself) lost our sheltie awhile back but after some grieving we went and adopted another one from a rescue shelter. We have a nice cemetery spot on our property with flowers for her. We will never forget her. But time marches on and we now do really love our new sheltie.
