Need some help! 1999 Mercury Cougar?
My car will not do anything! The battery is fully charged but when I turn the key nothing happens. No clicks, no sounds what so ever! Could it be the starter? A relay maybe?
The fuel pump comes on. The starter wont engage. I guess I need to haul to the scrap yard! Its a money pit anyway!

I have a 1999 and 2001 Mercury cougar. Check the shrader valve on the fuel line next to the engine block and see if theres pressure there. If not have someone turn the key to acc and listen under the back seats in the middle for the fuel pump to turn on. My 1999 have a bad pump but everything else worked.

No, it's something in the starter circuit. Could be a blown starter relay, open up the hood, pop the top off of the relay box and have someone listen while you turn the key to start, you should hear a relay click on, if not consult your manual about replacing the relay. If you hear it but the starter doesn't engage and turn, check to see if the cables are properly bolted to the starter and that the ground between the transmission and the battery is secure.

it is a bad starter or a bad starter relay / solenoid.
those cougar arts are valuable. before you scrap the car, be sure to remove the high dollar items like the headlights and side markers, door mirrors, fog lights, fenders, etc.
They don't make alot of the parts anymore so there almost anything on the car that is working and not broken, etc is worth parting out

Replace the starter, mine went back at 110,000 miles and wouldn't click... it means the solenoid is bad ... If you can drift start it (if its a manual trans) then you can determine for sure...
