It is obvious that most testing involves harming the animals and containing the in a harsh environment. There should not be much argument about the examples of infecting animals with toxic substances to test the effect.
The real test is the benefits like cures versus the issue of accomplishing the same without the animals. Which animals count? Do we stop testing and breeding mice? How about using fish to test the impact of pollution? Does the end justify the means? Where do we draw the line?
