Cummins in F150 to make Fummins?

I have a 1995 F150 XL 4X4. I want to put a new engine in it and it can only be a cummins. But I dont know what L, like 5.9. And what transmission shout I get for it? I have only swaped an engine once but it was the same engine but one that worked, how much work will it be converting this gas F150 into a Fummins?

Update:

This would be a summer project, and please just dont answer the last question answer all if you know the answers or just answer the questions that you do know, please and thank you.

and others I can't remember right now, they have parts, manuals and support for your project.

One thing I will throw out is with the F150 half ton suspension you will have weight issues with the 6cyl 5.9l Cummins, or you can put in a 4cyl 3.9l Cummins (4BT) and won't have to beef up your front suspension. Its a very doable project, and you are definitely not alone in this. I've got a Fummins project going right now actually, and last summer sold my previous Fummins. I would also recommend getting a 96 or 97 Cummins as they are 12 valve (mechanical) and require no computer, plus being newer than the truck, will also be emissions legal. It can be very little work, or a lot of work, depending of which Cummins and transmission you want to use... but in the end you will love your Fummins so much you'll want to be buried in it.

I have never seen an f-150 with a cummins.. I have seen 250's and 350's on the super platform where they got rid of the junk 6.0 fords for a cummins.. and I have seen a dodge ram 1500 regular cab with a 5.9 cummins in it.. so I would imagine its possible.. I just dont know how much fab work it will take to put the diesel in a 150.. the bigger trucks have more room to work with

apparently you can put it in a 97 and back pretty easy 97 and up is a space issue this guy has a 5.9 cummins f-150

A lot of work. You might as well buy a Dodge with a Cummins already in it and spend your free time more wisely.

Just buy a new 5.0. It will cost a lot less than what you are asking about. zxc
