Rover 45 ignition problem.?

I just went to start my Rover 45 year 2000 & nothing happened. All the dashboard lights came on & the fuel pump ran, but when I turned the key to start there was nothing.

The dashboard lights dim very slightly, but the digital clock dims quite a lot. The solenoid clicked once, but after that, not a sound. The battery is showing 12.4 volts when I checked it. Have you got any ideas?

bad starter but check battery leads for tightness .also check connections at starter .large one to starter could be slack and small at spade to solenoid .otherwise bad starter. no probs.all the best 12.4 volts should be plenty to start car.

Source(s): yes could be battery leads slack .or starter problem.
