Is it possible to be emotionally numb?

I am happy, cheerful, and naive. I trust people too much, and cannot remain serious for a long time.

I have seen many people in my life, and they all are very stoic. I tend to overreact to problems and end up looking like an idiot. When something good happens, I am over joyed.

I wonder if there is a way to always have the same face. No feelings, no emotions, no expressions, and therefore no pain.

I don't want to be this way.

Isn't it possible to remain serious and quiet always? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.- Don't tell me weird things like OMG NO YOU'RE GREAT and all. You aren't helping me by saying that anyways.

It's all about the attitude you take. Those words that you use to describe yourself are just based on your limited observation. Just the fact that you don't want feelings makes those qualities that you think you have, irrelevant.

Stoic? You don't live in other people's lives. People suffer when they turn their backs. You call yourself an idiot, but that's just another way of being cruel.

You should stop yourself from this distructive attitude that you have because it's a sign of depression. You should go to a doctor, nutritionist and maybe reconsider the habits that depresses you in this way.

    Good luck.

    hey,

some people are made that way - they just are more emotional.

They have a big gap between happy and sad

while others kind of look expressionless because their gap is less.

I used to have high emotions (but not like yours)

and after many traumatic experiences I stopped going through the extremes.

my sadness is no longer that sad, and my happiness is no longer thaaaat happy.

Most people get the 'same face' no feelings by going through life

and realizing that happiness and sadness are both temporary states.

    it just happnes naturally.

not sure how you will 'fake' it.

its not possible without heavy doses of medications.... and why would you want to be numb. it would mean not feeling any joy, fun or excitement.

you have to have the crap in order to appreciate the good.
