Can drinking an engery drink during pregnancy harm the baby?
im about 2 months along and i know i cant be drinking alcohol, or anything like that. heathier foods than what i would normally eat.
but do energy drinks or pop or gaterade harm the fetus?
what are the best things to drink?

yeah, i know caffinated drinks can harm the fetus. pop without caffeine will be fine. not too sure about gatorade though. but the best thinks to drink would be 100% juice, water, and milk. koolaid and not 100% juice wont hurt you either. goodluck, and dont drinik much caffeine. here i found this

Statement: Caffeine causes birth defects in humans.
Facts: Numerous studies on animals have shown that caffeine can cause birth defects, preterm delivery, reduced fertility, and increase the risk of low-birth weight offspring and other reproductive problems. There have not been any conclusive studies done on humans though. It is still better to play it safe when it comes to inconclusive studies.
Statement: Caffeine causes infertility.
Facts: Some studies have shown a link between high levels of caffeine consumption and delayed conception.
Statement: Caffeine causes miscarriages.
Facts: In 2008, two studies on the effects of caffeine related to miscarriage showed significantly different outcomes. In one study released by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, it was found that women who consume 200mg or more of caffeine daily, are twice as likely to have a miscarriage as those who do not consume any caffeine.
In another study released by Epidemiology, there was no increased risk in women who drank a minimal amount of coffee daily ( between 200-350mg per day.)
Due to conflicting conclusions from numerous studies, the March of Dimes states that until more conclusive studies are done, pregnant women should limit caffeine intake to less than 200 mg per day. This is equal to about one 12 oz cup of coffee.
Statement: A pregnant woman should not consume ANY caffeine.
Facts: Experts have stated that moderate levels of caffeine have not been found to have a negative effect on pregnancy. The definition of moderate varies anywhere from 150 mg - 300 mg a day.

How much caffeine is too much?
The less caffeine you consume, the better. Some experts say more than 150 mg of caffeine a day is too much, while others say more than 300 mg a day is too much. If you must get your fix, it is best to discuss this with your health care provider to make the healthiest choice for you and your baby.

The best things to drink while pregnant, or at any other time really, are water, milk, and fruit juices without added sugar.
Energy drinks are of questionable safety even when you AREN'T pregnant, because no one really knows how they affect you. Perfectly healthy teens and young adults have had heart attacks after drinking them, so I'd steer clear of them altogether.
Gatorade is okay to drink, but the zero-calorie kinds have artificial sweeteners in them, which should be consumed in moderation, no more than 1 serving per day.
As for soda pop, they are also okay in moderation. Be aware that many sodas have caffeine (about 50 mg per 12oz can). Most doctors recommend no more than 100 or 200 mg of caffeine per day.

One a day is thoroughly high-quality. I drank diet Pepsi throughout my entire being pregnant. I limited myself to 2 cans every day. Should you believe the have got to drink more then that, remember ingesting caffeine free pop. You do not need your baby to end up elegant on the caffeine since when they are born, there can be a excellent danger they might go by way of caffeine withdrawls, similar to an grownup does when they are so used to having it, and all of a sudden they don't have it anymore.

I don't know that it will harm the baby, but it can't be good for the baby. Energy drinks and pop aren't good for anyone. I'm 12 weeks along and all I drink is water, milk and juice.

As someones else said; you should avoid caffeine while pregnant because it does cause malformation in fetuses. Gatorade is okay; drink on with that, vitawater - even the energy one through that (caffeine free) my dr said is okay. Water, water and more water, and if you need to have soda; do it in moderation. You can get gestational diabetes if you drink too many sugary things and don't watch your diet. Just be sure to drink lots and stay hydrated, limit caffeine and sugar, and if you aren't sure; ask your doctor. :)

Any form of energy supplements should be avoided, including energy drinks. Stick with water, 100% fruit juice, and milk. Drink soda or other sugary drinks in moderation!

Drinking energy drinks, green tea, and other drinks with caffeine will cause shakes, increase your heart rate and affect the baby. High levels of caffeine and other ingredients in energy drinks can affect the baby's growth and brain development.
