Growing vegetables in a garden with poor light?
Just moved and a pal and I are going to remodel our small garden ready for next year. Even the best part of it (about half) only gets full sun from late morning onwards so we are going to make that into the veg patch. A small part of that will be laid to a hard standing for a little greenhouse for toms, peppers and tender herbs etc which will leave a reasonable amount of space for other veg. Can anyone advise me what outdoor veggies do well without full sun please and maybe what to avoid.

most veg will grow well in part shade, the bit that needs full sun is the greenhouse, toms peppers etc need max. sunlight. if limited in space go for expensive items like leeks and new potatoes, carrots are so cheap they do not justify the vigilance needed from carrot fly, cabbages take huge space per unit, onions are easy and good fun.

Venus Fly Traps need to be planted in a nutrient free medium. Faraway from there common habitat this is a combo of fifty/50 moss peat and perlite . As the venus fly traps must be saved soggy hanging them external in pots into the soil could be an option for you, and not using a drainage in and this combo within the pot. You possibly can have got to hold them from drying out at any time , however they would be in a position to seize there food naturally. This may simplest be okay to do as long as the climate conditions external are all right for the fly lure.

Probably the wisest option would be brassicas, lettuces, and spinach. Their leaves are what we use, so no worries about blooming and pollination, etc. Many other vegetable plants may grow, but they will be sparse producers, if they produce at all.
Some perennial herbs there might be best. Cilantro, mint, thyme, angelica, chives, and a few others can handle part shade.

Experiment with different veg, then go with the best performers in future years.Runner beans and
raspberries are good for small gardens as you get a good crop from a small ground area.
