Injury at Ortho. Can I sue?
I went to my orthodontist appointment today (I've been going here for 4 years). They wanted to take an x-ray and while doing this, the machine somehow fell. It caused me to collapse to the floor. The dental assistant ran out screaming. While I was left on the floor trying to crawl to the waiting room for my husband to help me. I could barely breathe and my spouse realized that I had bleeding/ swelling/ bruising on my shoulder. I went to the ER and nothing was broken. I am traumatized by this machine and I do not believe that these people should be treating people with unsafe conditions. I have never been too happy with the Ortho services. My question: can I sue for injury? If so, does it seem like I have a case. I work full-time and I go to school full-time. This severe shoulder pain and back pain is causing discomfort and adjustment to work with my left hand instead of my right. Any suggestions?
I already paid them off!

Contact an attorney. The question to ask is not can I sue but "(1) does my case have merit and can I win". Personal injury cases can be for physical or emotional issues and usually result from accidents, falls or product malfunctions. Sounds like you have the right ingredients. In the eyes of this layman, go for it.

They should offer to pay for your medical bills plus lost wages and pain and suffering. If they make a reasonable offer, you should take the high road and leave the courts out of it. If they don't make an acceptable offer, yes, definitely consult an attorney. It will be hard to prove gross negilgence, so don't expect a huge 'payday' but they surely should compensate you.
Get well soon and best of luck!

Yeah, that certainly isn't within the scope of treatment that you agreed too. You could sue them, but seeing that it is just causing a little discomfort and caused no permanent injury you probably wouldn't get very much.
