Algebra problem, please help! How can the height be the same at 2 different times?

A member of the local rocketry club launches her latest rocket from a large field. At the moment, its fuel is exhausted, the rocket has a velocity of 240 ft/sec and an altitude of 544 ft.

Function: h(t) = -16t^2+240t+544

Height of the rocket at t=5 is 1,344 ft

Height of the rocket at t=10 is 1,344 ft

The question says: how could the rocket be the same height at t=5 and t=10?

Thanks!!

At 5 seconds the rocket is going up. After a while the rocket starts coming back down and will be at the same height again at t=10.

At 544ft, the rocket motor cuts out. Momentum will keep the rocket going up. At t=5, the rocket passes 1,344ft as it continues upward. Somewhere above 1,344ft the rocket slows to a stop and then begins to fall back to earth. At t=10, the rocket passes through 1,344ft again on its way to the ground.

    Have a good one!

At those two times the rocket is not at its max height. Think of something going up into the air and coming back down. The fuel was exhausted so it started to descend, covering the same distance it traveled. You can also picture a parabola and how two points can have the same y value at two different x coordinates.

J=John's speed (mph) G=George's speed (mph) john can rigidity 240miles on an same time because of the fact it takes george to rigidity 220 miles: (240 mi)/J=(220 mi)/G=time john drives 5mph speedier than george J=G+5 There are 2 equations and a pair of unknowns. confirm them concurrently. 240/(G+5)=220/G 240G=220*(G+5) 240G=220G+1100 20G=1100 G=fifty 5 mph J=fifty 5+5 J=60 mph
