How to balance grieving with life?

I am currently working on a creative project.

When my emotions are up and down, it is very difficult to get stuff written. I've written or brainstormed a bit each day, but not enough; I want to work effectively, and get done..

I am writing both a script and music, both of which need a clear head.

But I also need to continue allowing myself to grieve.

Is there an effective way to grieve, but still have a clear enough head to write?

Update:

Thank you Philip.

Yahoo answers has helped keep me sane. :-P

(Or has it?)

Persist. Keep going. It's the only way.

Amass fragments without even trying to put them in order or complete them. Suspend your critical faculties more than you might feel like doing. You might eventually find you have enough bits and pieces to say what you want, even though at no point did you ever feel you were really getting to grips with your subject.

Good luck. I don't really know you, but I count you as friend and wish you well in this endeavour.

To be able to be creative you need to be able to concentrate entirely on what you are doing. If your grief is raw then a break from your writing/music may be a good idea. This will enable you to deal with the grief and get your mind focused once more, so that you can then make a decision when you feel that you are ready to go back to creating your script/music and give it the time and attention it requires.

Maybe sing a lot of songs you love?

I do know what you mean though but I think you can grieve for a certain amount then you need to just give yourself space or maybe just write down keywords.
