You do not get a International drivers license after your 1 year license expire. You get a 5 year Thai driver license. International drivers license are worthless and service no purpose. There are many companies who will give you a international driver license just by having a regular license and they are worthless pieces of junk. If you drive in Thailand, you get a 5 year license after your 1 year license expires. Doing the same thing you did to get your 1 year license.
You have the following with you.
1. A letter of resident from either your a house book, letter from your embassy or immigrations.
2. Fill out the application form
3. Letter for a doctor saying your mental and physical fit to drive.
4. Your passport
5. Application fee
6. Old license

You need the same documentation required when you got your 1 year temporary license to get the 5 year license. After you get the 5 year license, you can get an International Driver's Permit (IDP) at the same Land Transport Office where you got the 5 year license.
You do not change to an IDP, you get it to use in conjunction with with your Thai license. It's basically a translation of your Thai license and is accepted as a a valid license in many countries around the world along with your Thai License.

When you have had your Thai drivers licence for 1 year you can get a 5 year licence. you will need a letter from immigration to certify you are a residnnt in Thailand .To get that you will need your house book and your passport. The fee was ฿500 for which I did not get a receipt
Then you will go to a land transport office to do some simple tests.
The licence cost à¹à¹à¹à¹à¹600ิิิิิืืà¹à¸·à¹à¹à¹à¹ à¹including tax
I did this a few days ago. Did not need a Drs certificate. I am 71 years old.
You can apply for an international licence at the same office of land and transport for use internationally. not in Thailand
