Why are there so many people who want to join French Foreign Legion?

I've seen so many questions about it. I assume most are just kids though. But why would anyone want to move to a foreign country and fight for foreigners they don't even know? Do people glorify FFL or something?

    A lot of them you find on here are US kids than can't get into the US military for various reasons and think the FFL will magically take them somehow...

    @Neggro...WRONG!!!!

    Edit:

    Right on their f*cking website it says they will do a criminal background check. They will not accept felons nor people with violence convictions nor will they take people who are currently wanted by the law.

    So why don't you learn a little bit about wtf you are talking about before running your ball washer?

    Edit:

    "The FFL allows you to join regardless of your past medical history or past criminal record (with the exception of some offenses)"

    You are implying (as most kids think) that any old person can traipse to France and join. Which is completely wrong.

    And until you can manage to actually pass the ASVAB and join..stop offering "advice" an Y!A military

    There aren't. If you took all the people who have ever joined or thought about joining and compared that to the world's population and then rounded up, you would notice that no one has ever joined the FFL. The fact that you happen to see a lot of 15 year old kids asking questions on here about it, doesn't mean anything.

    For Europeans, Yanks, Aussies, Kiwis and Canucks it's mostly a romantic mystique surrounding the FFL. The FFL has notoriously tough training, so those who really want to prove their mettle often try to join the FFL.

    For people from 3rd world countries, serving in the FFL give them a fast track to French citizenship.

    The FFL allows you to join regardless of your past medical history or past criminal record (with the exception of some offenses)

    Edit: Right dip ****, they still allow people with a criminal record to join with the exception of some, why don't you post a f--king valid point instead of saying "wrong".

    "They will not accept felons nor people with violence convictions nor will they take people who are currently wanted by the law." Exactly you f--king dumb ***, are you implying that you can only get arrested for a violent offense? Notice I said "with the exception of some" I can tell you didn't pass the PC part of the ASVAB and that's granted if you are even in the military.

    Edit3: Where in my initial statement did I ever say any old person can "traipse" their way into the FFL? You are just an illiterate asss-hat, and there's no point in bringing up my asvab score because even if I did pass my first time I wouldn't know anymore than I know now so your argument is invalid, please try again.
