What do I need to be a vocal coach/singing teacher?

I'm in my last year of high school and wondering whether or not to go to sixth form or college? I want to maybe get a job as a vocal coach in high schools. I'm having singing lessons myself at the moment, and the plan is to ask my singing teacher what you need to be a singing teacher. I think I have quite a lot of vocal ability and a good vocal range (very nearly 4 octaves). Just not too sure what to do next. I also have alot of experience in performing because I perform live in front of crowds mor than once every week. I'm good with people, I have really good social skills and i'm good at explaining things to people. Can anyone help? :)

Update:

*more than once.. clearly my typing skills arent as good !

When I was looking into learning how to sing, improving my voice and vocal depth, I found something of great help. Learn here https://tr.im/xPwz2

by following the program, I have noticed major differences in my singing ability, and I have learned how to hit notes I never would have previously imagined. I've always been part of my church choir, and every else also notices the improvements. I found that with this, as anything else, consistency and perserverence are key. Practice makes perfect. But having some great professional help along the way certainly doesn't hurt! Anyhoo, take care!

In the uk there is no legal requirements for someone to teach voice and depending on who you talk to, they all have different opinions on what you should have - including me!

In my opinion you need several things:

    1. Knowledge of anatomy and how to listen and make changes to the way the vocal equipment is used.

    2. Ability to teach and communicate about the voice effectively. Being able to adopt to the students needs as a learner.

    3. Knowledge of the vocal styles you are teaching and being able to teach style effectively, including diction and voice quality choices.

    3. Knowledge and ability to teach musicianship - sight reading, aural, improvisation, transposing, etc

    4. Performance skills - being able to pass these onto students

    5. Teaching music theory.

    6. Commitment to continuous professional development.

Teaching singing qualifications are desirable, but for me not essential. It's a good indication of commitment to improving, but not necessarily a guarantee of a good teacher. Depends very much on who's teaching the teacher! For me commitment to CPD is more important.

Places to go for teaching qualifications and CPD courses including musicianship and technique:

    ABRSM

    Trinity college London

    LCM music Exams

Aotos - association of teachers of singing - run a effective teaching summer school

    Estillvoice.com - technique

    Reevemoller.com

    Thevoiceexplained.com

    British voice association

    Vocal process

    Kodaly - musicianship through singing

    Dalcroze - musicianship through movement

Those should be all transferable to any styles or performances. For courses on style or performance skills, it's probably personal preference. Have a google round.

If you're going to teach, enjoy learning for the rest of your life!

    So..

I saw some improvements in my singing voice thanks to this online resource http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=295.

I needed some training but couldn't afford a vocal coach. I'm happy with the results.

    Good Bye

i have been studying for a touch over a three hundred and sixty 5 days, and in that element I easily have under no circumstances executed any opera or classical - my instructor likes rock and dad, and could do any track with me that I ask for. he's marvelous! i could supply you contact information, yet I see you're contained in the U. S..
