First A-Rod trade rumor coming out. Yankees & Marlins talking a deal? ->?

I think with Randy Levine running as team president for the Yanks, anything is possible. Miami seems to be a logical destination, given that he grew up there and has an offseason home in this fair city, but getting Heath Bell in return may not satisfy the Yankees need, even if it just a salary dump. There are some other suitors that could be in the A-Rod hunt...

- Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Last Winter, they shock the world and took arguably the game best player of this generation in Albert Pujols for a 10 year deal that rival A-Rod contract. The result...they miss the playoffs again. They could do it again by getting A-Rod. Now...how it's that possible? Well...the Angels are ready to dump Vernon Wells, who has two years left and $42 million in his contract and the Yanks have taken chances of acquiring reclamation project (ex. Andruw Jones, Raul Ibanez to name a few) in the past. The Angels are not afraid to spend, so they'll probably have to chip in at least half or a quarter of his remaining salary every year. Besides, A-Rod fills the need of an everyday 3B that the Angels need since Troy Glaus left town, no matter how old he is. The prospect of playing alongside Pujols, as well as Mike Trout, in the lineup everyday is more than enticing for A-Rod to waive his no-trade clause to play in the West.

- Chicago White Sox

The Sox could offer Dunn for A-Rod and be their everyday DH, but I don't think he go play for the south side and the Yanks may not want Dunn in return.

- Los Angeles Dodgers

The other L.A. team, the Dodgers are also another team that aren't afraid to spend, but the question is who the Dodgers will ship in return? They could trade Carl Crawford, who also has five years and $100 million remaining in his contract (much like A-Rod contract), so in a way, it does make sense financially, but the Yanks have no desire to take Crawford in return. If they didn't want him two years ago when he hit the market, why would the Yanks want him now?

On one hand, it's believable because AFraud lives in Miami during the offseason and the Marlins need something -- even a piece of crap, washed-up, steroids-using, 3rd baseman -- to try to draw fans next season.

That said, I doubt the Marlins will get him for nothing even if the Yankees take Bell, so that part of the story is unbelievable.

I, personally, think Miami would be nuts to take on ARoid because he is a player completely and utterly without upside, and he's so old now that a change of scenery won't reenergize his career.

Loria had a run last season where he blew money on "name" players but none of them were washed-up when he signed them. I truly doubt that this deal pans out.

Buster Olney said the same thing on the ESPN radio pregame show. Apparently the Marlins would send Heath Bell to the Yankees and would continue to bear Bell's salary. The Yankees would have to pay A-Rod's salary.

I herd all that you heard on the FAN including Cashmans saying it wasn't true. I'm hoping hard that it is, cause he needs to get outta NY! Never liked him with Seattle ( he onkly got numbers because of Jr, and roids) didn't like him in Texas ( full blown roids) and now that he's off the juice, this is all that he has left!! Even if the marlin's story isn't true, the Yanks have to eat a lot of his contract and ship him out! I'm hoping they can get away with just eating $50 or so mil. but it could take as much as 0-90 mil for some sucker to bite! Good riddance to him and his 600+ roid homeruns!

The Miami Marlins have Gil Velazquez, Sean Green, Greg Dobbs and Donnie Murphy as their 3B options. For the right price, A-Rod would be a huge upgrade at 3B.

The Marlins have idiots for management, so I would believe they would do something like that. BUt, where will he play, there is no DH in the NL, and that's all he is now.

The LA Dodgers also has an interest in him, but don't know if they still do.

That would work well for both sides... The Marlins don't play baseball in October... and A-Rod doesn't produce in October. Sounds like a win-win!!

Miami is his home. Marlins and him are both losers. I think it would be a great fit. Maybe he will hit on the marlins mascot next. I have no use for him or Jeffrey Loria. I think they will go down on a sinking ship together. I will just watch and smile.

This is the first of dozens, if not hundreds, of nonsense trade rumors involving Alex. He'll be with the Yankees for the next five years.

i think if cashman says false, then it will be false in the end. but, i keep thinking that a-rod is gone a lot or something. the problem is, i haven't watched enough baseball this summer to do anything but make me nervous. yes, this report does make me nervous. (why isn't a-rod playing 3rd base says dumb-head me?) i missed it.
