It's not like saying can a rectangle fit a square so ignore that answer.
Regardless, the case for an iPhone 5 will NOT fit the new iPod touch, they are not different shapes by a long shot but the iPod is much thinner than the phone and for that reason it will not work.
I would recommend looking on amazon for the iPod specific cases, might even find one with free shipping!
