So a friend of mine has a daughter, but is not married to the mother of that child.
so my question is, i know the mother doesn't get any health benefits b/c they're not married, but does his daughter still get benefits even if she is living with the mother?

Yes as long as the child is listed in DEERS as his dependent. For that to happen the military can require that a DNA/Paternity test done or court ordered child support. The child will also be eligible for a military ID card that will allow access to some base/post facilities.
