Im getting ready to buy a white bookcase made of engineered wood and im wondering if i can paint it. Does anyone know? And if so what kind of paint do i have to use. Regular paint and brush or spray paint?

Yes it gets painted all the time in common products using normal methods. I also used to work on theater set construction and painted it the same way as any other wood.

Brush or spray should work fine. I like brush myself but maybe that's only because that's what I always used. Make coats as light and spread out as possible, wait a couple minutes or so for it to dry to at most a tack (sticky but not wet, or totally dry is fine too), then repeat. 1 thick coat will look runny and uneven, whereas multiple thin coats look nice and even.
