A spider committing suicide. What does it even mean?

It's from a short story. And do you think it actually means something? Heres the situation:

A girl turned on her electronic fireplace. (those ones powered by gas) She sat in front of it, and then saw a spider inside. It gets hotter and hotter and the spider is struggling. Trying to escape. After a minute or so, it ran into the fire.

Wtf does this even mean??????!

It is usually the natural instinct of living creatures to want to end their suffering rather than feebly/futilely trying to preserve it, knowing that they're doomed anyways. Spider was smart and just wanted to get it over with - arachnids don't have anything to hope for and know when it's their time; it's not like they have firefighters like humans do.

  • Its a story, i don't think it means anything, probably just for entertainment, or a good laugh. Ive heard stories like that, they don't mean anything, but if you insist it means something, that is fine. Hope this helped!

Pain and or fear will drive even a spider to irrational behavior.
