Is the government really a part of car insurance companies like Geico?

I just realized today that Geico stands for Government Insurence Employee Company. Now my friend tells me that all car insurance companies are run by the government. (something I don't trust) Is this true and are their any insurence companies that the government isn't involved with?

No all car insurance companies are not ran by the government and even GEICO is NOT a government owned insurance company anymore. Whoever told you that is an idiot!

Geico is not run by the government. All insurance companies are subject to government regulation. I suppose you think Farmers Insurance is run by farmers?

NO ! GEICO is not a government involved now. Don't worry about and just relax, Government or not they will provide better service.
