What do you think Obama wants to "be more flexible" about with the Russians?

President Obama had the perfect opportunity to explain what he meant when he was caught on microphone with Putin last spring. However, he chose to ignore the opening and not explain. This leaves me wondering what else he isn't being open about. (Libya?) And isn't he the one who said we needed to be open with our allies? What about the American people? Don't we count?

Both men were up for reelection, both have parties to whom they owe allegiance and whose decisions might affect foreign policy, this isn't sinister its factual and has been for ages.

In a second term there is more flexibility in that they have fewer people to please and can make more sensible than partisan suggestions and actions.

He was talking about taking out our missiles and military , that force Russia to behave.

It tells you plenty that Putin, Chavez and Castro all want Obama to stay president. They are all our mortal enemies. It looks like they think they can make Obama do just what they want him to, instead of what makes America safe.

A safe America is the last thing Putin wants.

I am fine for president being more flexible with Russia as I don’t want another cold war.

    Does my opinion count?

You aren't going to get very far strong arming Russia. Any policy with them needs to be a compromise between both countries. I think that's what he meant.

Probably arms reductions - there are still many, many nukes as a relict from the cold war and this issue needs resolution

Maybe because he had his hands full fighting Republicans on healthcare reform, banking reform, and them wanting to be bribed with tax cuts for rich guys at every step?
