Are there any women rock singers today that can compare to Stevie Nicks?
Just listening to Edge of Seventeen on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn8-4tjPxD8&feature... I love her style, and all of her other songs, Like Gypsy, Dreams, and Landslide.
It got me thinking: I can't name one female singer out today that has that rock/bluesy sound that is a big star out now. I also remember the group Heart, but today are there any that can compare?? Maybe not the exact sound but a similar style. Maybe there are none.
I know plenty in pop category, like Pink, or Adele, but none that remind me of her style.

Stevie Nick is a legendary alto, and her sultry, alluring voice is so distinctive I can't think of a modern songstress with a comparable sound. I do think there are other young rockers who have the appealing bohemian pluck and edgy mystique that has made Stevie so iconic. Florence Welch is the first that comes to mind. I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this month and was absolutely riveted. She ignited this spark with her very first note that completely lit up the whole audience for the entire concert. You could actually feel the energy. I saw her at Coachella, and she had an equally mesmerizing effect there. The cool thing about Florence is, like Stevie, her dynamic presence is backed up by talent and depth. Unlike Lady Gaga who captures attention with her outlandish outfits, Florence doesn't need stunts. Her gorgeous, emotive voice and her imaginative, soul-stirring lyrics invite you in and make you want to stay for a while. Stevie's free-spirited, lively songs also have a way of connecting with listeners and taking us on a journey. I saw Stevie at the Hollywood Bowl last year, and felt in awe. I've loved her music almost all my life. Florence has done a few covers of Stevie's songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF-hMABAr74
Jenny Lewis has that ethereal, avant-garde vibe of Stevie's softer side, like "Songbird." She's also a very skilled songwriter, and has the kind of un-sugarcoated honesty of some of Stevie's songs.
Regina Spektor's music is so beautiful, with a sprinkling of the bizarre, like Stevie's.
Lykke Li's "Youth Knows No Pain" reminds me of Stevie's "Edge of Seventeen."
I've loved Stevie Nicks since my uncle introduced her music to me as a kid. It's great that you appreciate her as well. I did a cover of one of her songs a while ago, and if you're interested you can check it out here: http://s353.photobucket.com/albums/SkylarkMelody/S...
By the way, thanks for sending caring emails and always being so kind to me.

i could take Joni Mitchell in a squeaker over Carol King, often because of the fact I want Joni's jazz-motivated style greater desirable than King's pop sound. that's a squeaker however because of the fact Carol King is a huge and wrote relatively some the main suitable pop music ever! i could positioned kd lang in there, too, over Stevie Nicks, for her creativity and her vocal style, even however she became under no circumstances as wide-spread as Nicks in her best. uncertain if Patsy Cline wrote her very own stuff or no longer. If she did, i could positioned her interior the pantheon of all-time greats. Amy Mann is large, too. won't have the capacity to flow away out Fiona Apple. EDIT: OH, how would desire to I even have forgotten Patti Smith! Janis Joplin, wrote a number of her songs yet lots of those she became maximum properly person-friendly for have been covers. They have been superb, kick-*** interpretations, however!

No, not really. Maybe not crazy famous people. There are people out there though who are musicians but not in the spotlight who are similar.
Adele and Pink have their own style. They can't compare with a legend like Stevie.

Possibly Joss Stone. Joss has better pipes but she doesn't write much and she hasn't stood the test of time like Stevie has.

That's a tough one.. there are some good female singers but none that are rock.. some are metal.. some are country.. but most rock/ pop are autotuned to crap that most people can't stand
