Who Do You Think Benefits the Most from The Likes Of Lil Wayne and Nikki Minaj?
This question is inspired by Dejele's Question about Nikki Minaj. It got me to thinking: most answered that they don't like her or her image, and many on here don't like Lil Wayne either. It seems to be that both act out stereotypes for black men and black women: the black male thug, loud and criminal like behavior, and the black female, ignorant, loose morals, wild rude behavior.
So the question would be: Why are they so famous? Why do they make money, and have so many views on Youtube? Who benefits from keeping them famous and in the public eye?? When other really talented artists are under the radar??
Thoughts and Opinions.

5 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoDo You Think the Secession Petitions Are a Case of Sore Losers Or the Result of Fear?
I ask this because I've never seen that before, that after an election, the talk of secession is even a subject, something that has not really been an issue since the Civil War.
Do you think its a case of sore losers, or people afraid of socialism, and communism?
Do you think the likes of Rush Limbaugh and others have contributed to feeding the fears of people so much that they feel they need to secede from the country?

9 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoAre there any women rock singers today that can compare to Stevie Nicks?
Just listening to Edge of Seventeen on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn8-4tjPxD8&feature... I love her style, and all of her other songs, Like Gypsy, Dreams, and Landslide.
It got me thinking: I can't name one female singer out today that has that rock/bluesy sound that is a big star out now. I also remember the group Heart, but today are there any that can compare?? Maybe not the exact sound but a similar style. Maybe there are none.
I know plenty in pop category, like Pink, or Adele, but none that remind me of her style.
11 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoWhy Do People Think That Tyler Perry movies Negatively Stereotype Black People?
I ask this because someone just asked a question about negative movies and noticed that many named Tyler Perry movies.
Honestly, I'm surprised. While I admit, The Medea character can get annoying, but I think Tyler Perry has some decent movies, with good story lines and positive messages. For example, Daddy's Little Girls, is about a father getting custody of his girls and being hardworking.
So what do you think makes it negative? I don't see it.

China has a strict communist government, and yet the US has no problem trading with China. On the other hand, Cuba, also communist, has been under trade embargoes for decades that have only lessened in recent years. What are the logical reasons for this apparent contradiction???

Since Neil Armstrong's death, I have been reading some articles regarding space travel and the competition that existed between the United States and Russia, that spurred on the Apollo Program. I guess I am surprised that with advancing technology, more trips were not made, and more exploration of the moon accomplished?
That is a 30 yr span, and in other fields of science, many strides have been made, while with the space program, it actually seems to have become stagnate. Why?

3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoWhy Is Oprah Winfrey Considered to be Racist by Many People?
Recently when Gabby won the gold medal, Oprah and other celebrities tweeted her congrats. When that was mentioned in an article I was reading, I noticed that one of the comments said Oprah was racist and it had 1,000 thumbs up. I couldn't believe it. Do that many people view her that way?
It shocked me because she has a large, majority white, audience. She honestly never struck me to be that way. She has also launched the careers of Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, both white. Many of her guests are also white.
Why would people feel that way? Do you feel their views are valid? Thoughts and opinions.

I really love science fiction, so I was really looking forward to the new series Fallen Skies. It does move slow sometimes, but I love how they are developing the story line.
But I notice that almost all the characters from the good side who are killed have been the black ones. Even the black kid who was harnessed, they brought him back, just to kill him in the same episode.
Then they introduced a new black guy, really cute with locks, just to kill him off a few episodes later.
What is up?? What do you think??
3 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups9 years agoCan you Sue a Doctor for negligence in a cancer death?
I ask this because my mother died March 6 of cancer.
She was diagnosed in late Sept 2010 with endometrial cancer, she had a total hysterectomy in Oct 2010. They found she had stage 3, it had spread to one of her ovaries. She started radiation for a month in Dec 2010 along with low chemo. Heavy chemo was started in March 2011, and she finished in April.
Then in May 2011 she had an obstruction and fluid build up. Come to find out she had cancer cells in the fluid. She was supposed to take Avastin and Doxcil, but had only one treatment like that, Doxicil was no longer manufactured and she had a monthly treatment of Avastin. The doctors kept telling her she was fine, that the scan showed only microscopic cells in fluid but no spread. She said when she asked about a thickness she felt, she was told it was just scar tissue, and the doctor didnt even check it out. She also told me that many times she had questions for her doctor, and on the days of her appts, he wasn't even there, he would be in surgery and unavailable. Many times she only saw the nurses who administer the chemo.
They did not even do a full scan on her from May 2011 until January 2012, which by that time they discovered cancer had spread to her liver, and she had 10 to 15 tumors throughout the abdomen. They then were supposed to do an intraperitoneal chemo treatment, but they put the wrong catheter in, it actually fell out on the floor. My Dad also says that when he asked about the fluid building up and what was it, he was told jokingly by the doctor, "beer". My parents were fed up by this time and switched to Johns Hopkins, but she could not get an appt there until Feb 15th, and by this time was so weak she could not get any treatments. My mom was pronounced terminal, and her words, "they sent me home to die". She came home, and went down so fast we could not believe it. She was on hospice for only one week then died. It was like torture.
Words cannot really describe the horror, pain, and despair of watching your mother waste away and finally die.
While thinking back on everything, it just seems very negligent that they did not monitor better with scans to see if the Avastin treatments were helping or if cancer was spreading. I also think it was negligent to put wrong catheter in for the chemo directly in abdomen, which could have extended her life and given us more time with her.
I realize that I could be directing my anger at the doctor, but I feel like this doctor, who was also her surgeon, should not have taken on more patients then he could properly look after, and I feel like someone should answer for this.
8 AnswersCancer9 years agoAre Young Black Men and Black Women Being Influenced to Hate Each Other?
I ask this because I notice that many movies, music videos, and media always feature interracial couples, there are also a large number of users I notice on the Internet and on this site, which claim to be black, then bash and insult each other. I notice that most users who do this tend to be under 25
While there is nothing wrong with dating a variety of people, why the hate between each other?
How can a black man hate on black women when a black woman birthed him and raised him? How can a black girl hate on black men when a black man caused her conception and helped raise her?
Why allow yourself to be influenced like that?

15 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups10 years agoMicroscopic Cancer Cells Found Two Weeks After Finishing Chemo?
My mom has stage 3 uterine cancer and after total hysterectomy, she received 5 weeks radiation, 4 low chemo, then 3 heavy chemo of Carboplatin with Taxol 3 weeks apart. She had her last chemo on April 29th, then mid May was in the hospital where they found fluid build up.
Come to find out there were microscopic cancer cells still there, and she will need three more treatments, once a month, this time with Avastin and Doxcil. The good thing is her CT scan showed nothing, also blood tests were all good, but still these microscopic cells causing fluid build up.
I found it strange that there would still be cancer cells so soon after receiving the first chemo treatments, has anyone else heard of this, does this mean that the first set never worked or she just needs more to finish getting what the first set could not get?? Could chemo cause fluid build up too??
If anyone has heard of anything similar or knows something about this, any info is much appreciated.
4 AnswersCancer10 years agoDo You Believe Pharmaceutical Companies Withhold Natural Medicines If they Cannot Make Money from It?
I ask this because while doing research, I have found that many, if not all, medicines, including chemotherapy, are synthetic compounds of natural herbs that they extract and patent and then make literally billions of dollars from.
They then get these approved and other more natural cures, since they have not successfully extracted or patented them are pushed under the rug because federal law prohibits a patent on natural substances.
Do you believe that pharmaceutical companies control the medicines that we receive, and that there are natural cures that are not offered? If so, what would stop or control this from happening? It just seems that Western medicine has become more about making money than actually helping people.
This in no way reflects on the many hardworking, and truly selfless doctors and nurse I have come across, I am thinking more of those who control what medicines are offered.

4 AnswersMedicine10 years agoDo People Realize You can Grow up in a "Ghetto" and Not act "Ghetto"?
I ask that because I have noticed that the new word for all behavior that is ignorant or lacking class is called "ghetto".
Do people realize that in areas that are so called "ghettos" many people do NOT act like that?? I say that because I grew up in an area like that. Of course you have some that do, but many were just working people who were lower middle class that some might consider poor.
Many were good neighbors who looked out for each other and helped each other.
I do not like how when they see guys with pants hanging, or acting ignorant, they think that all people from poor areas are a bunch of lazy, ignorant low class folks.
What are your thoughts and opinions??
