Where can I find DOS on 3.5 floppy disk?

Specifically, I need to boot from it and use the UNDELETE command.

    Hi,

You may be looking to recover a file you deleted accidentally. If this is the case, I would download a program called Recuva, but get the portable version (linked in the sources).

This program lets you perform a quick scan or a deep scan. Whatever you do, try not to create any new files or install any programs because you risk overwriting the file(s) you wish to recover.

You are advised to get a USB pen drive, download the portable version of Recuva on another computer and when recovering any files found, recover them to either a second hard drive or to external storage like the USB pen drive.

If I am wrong about you wishing to recover a file, then search the internet for Dos 6.22, it is available and I believe there are 4 disk images for it.

EDIT: Found undelete.exe at the second link, you would need a dos disk to go with it though. Not sure about licensing issues with DOS and I would virus scan the file if I were you, so it's at your own risk.

EDIT2: Found a download from Microsoft to get Dos 6.22 StepUp (Don't know if it is the full version or an upgrade). If you get 7zip you can extract UNDELETE.EX# from the third disk image inside that exe file. You may need to use a command called Expand to uncompress it.

UNDELETE command DO UNDELETE file which DELETED BY "DEL" command

that is the same case which deleting from explorer

=> windows managed for delete file must move to recyle bin

=> almost like recyle bin, del command only rename file and fileinfo set (mark) the file to deleted (info located in mbr or partition info), thats why the oldy need ZERO FILL / LOW LEVEL format

if you mean how to UNDELETE file

    see: answer from above (Infiniti...)

but my solution from above (not the answer above) use :

"test disk" that is the same method from UNDELETE command, but its mooooore powerfull, its recommended for experienced user

Your question : Where can I find DOS

    see: answer from above (Infiniti...)

    another solution :

    allbootdisks.com

    bootcd.narod.ru

yeah its between my recommendation and NOT i recommend to use it.

    rememmber :

    - its not from microsoft

    - remember virus in mbr is very difficult to clean.

    high recommendation :

    - download from microsoft, see: answer from above (Infiniti...)

    - install windows 98se, and install virtual floppy => then you got the DOS.

    - or download from freedos

That won't work for so many reasons, not the least of which is that DOS doesn't understand the way that Windows formats hard drives.
