Questions I hate: Q: How can I bypass my school's content filter? A: Go to Myspace or whatever at home. Use your school computers for what they're intended: learning. I don't say this because I care about your school's rules, but because it will build a good work ethic that will serve you for your entire working career. Q: How can I get Microsoft Office for free? A: Download OpenOffice at http://www.openoffice.org for free. It's compatible with all versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Q: Where do I get drivers for my computer? A: If you'd told us the make and model of your computer, people could help you. Since you didn't mention what kind of computer you have, nobody can help you. Q: Why do people ask questions here instead of searching with Google? A: If nobody on the Internet asked questions, then Google wouldn't have any search results to display. We're building more Google search results here on Yahoo Answers.
Is there a modern browser that works with Windows 2000?
I have a Windows 2000 VM on Virtual Box. It requires 1/4 the resources of a Windows XP VM. I mainly use it with my VPN client, Remote Desktop, and Putty. Still, I'd like to find a currently maintained web browser (to include HTML 5 and Javascript--so Dillo and Lynx are out) for it.
I've tried the "Big 5":
No version of IE beyond 6 will work.
No version of Firefox beyond 12 will work.
Chrome does not work.
Safari does not work.
No version of Opera beyond 12.01 will work.
I've also investigated the following browsers. They're either no longer maintained, not available for Windows, or they don't work with Windows 2000:
Maxthon, Iceweasel, Avant, Rockmeit, Galleon, Deep Explorer, Avant, Netscape (believe it or not, it was maintained by AOL until 2008), GNU Icecat, K-Melon, Konquerer, Flock, Seamonkey, Epiphany, and Mosaic.
If you know a still-maintained browser that works with Windows 2000, then please let me know.

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoTemple Run 2: What does the floating gold coin power up do?
I have searched and searched, but most of the Temple Run 2 pages talk only about the unlockable power ups. This is a powerup that you have to jump while running to get when you see it. It has on it the logo of Temple Run on it, and you sparkle after. I can't find anything on the in-game help or the Internet about this.
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games8 years agoWould you feel sexy if Leonardo DaVinci Painted Your Portrait?
If so, then why would you use the argument: "I'm a person, not a thing!" when I ask, why is me looking at your body different than looking at beautiful art?
4 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoIs This Misogynistic?
So one day, on a forum, someone started a thread about things the opposite gender does that the replier doesn't understand (depending on the replier's gender). I'm all in touch with my feminine side, and am SO pro-gay-marriage, and women's rights... but...
I ANSWERED: Why do women dress sexy, but then get pissed off when I stare at them?
I asked the question with all the best intentions, but....
HOOOOLEEE ****! I may as well have thrown that account away. Despite my positive contributions to other threads, I was karma'd down to super troll in seconds.
Okay, women, is the question THAT misogynistic if it's asked out of pure curiosity? Also, please refrain from making a comparison to this with the retard "She dressed sexy because she wanted to be raped" argument. It's TOTALLY not the same thing. Looking != Raping.

Why is it that ATM's have been giving out the exact amount they're supposed to since the 1980's for the sake of Christ, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if I can find a printer or copy machine manufactured in twenty effing thirteen that doesn't jam and tear up my sh/t at best once per week?
2 AnswersPrinters8 years agoWhere can I meet atheist friends?
Organized religion has us beat on this one. There's no atheist Scout program. There's no atheist youth groups. These things are generally considered to be a virtue because OMG "Atheism is not a religion", but in these days of suicides due to bullying, shouldn't there be a haven for atheists to get together, and support one another? Can't there be an "Atheism *IS* a cooperative society bound by morals and ethics that are self-evident without the need for intervention by any divine power." support group?
1 AnswerFriends8 years agoWhy is Latin improperly blocked?
So I was asking a question here on Yahoo Answers. In describing the circumstances related to the question, I talked about a Latin Honor that is bestowed upon certain college graduates. Magna *** laude. See how the word that--in English can mean something obscene--is censored even though it's obviously Latin--not English?
I'm a novice programmer, but even I would have the foresight to allow that word in the context of commonly used Latin. Why is Yahoo not sophisticated enough to do this?
1 AnswerYahoo Answers8 years agoWhy do college athletes reap more rewards than college scholars?
I just watched Aasif Manvi expose how the poor NCAA athletes don't get paid a salary or get paid for endorsing products. All they get is a scholarship, financial aid, and free health care. They don't even get free health care after graduating.
OK here's what I don't get: **** those athletes. What about the microbiology student that is excelling on the debate team? The system screws him because he is out of shape. He may be eligible for a scholarship, but the athlete still has access to more scholarship money. He doesn't get any special health care. After graduating, those NCAA athletes will be able to get endorsement dollars, even if they barely graduated. Our microbiologist could graduate magna *** laude, but he still won't attract anybody to pay him to endorse a product.
So ultimately, my question is this: Why--in an academic environment--do athletes reap more rewards than scholars?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture8 years agoHow is rape physically possible?
First of all, I am what my wife calls a "poor basketball player". I can't find the hole unless she uses her hand to guide me. Assuming that I'm unusual in that matter, if she's not wet then I can push as hard as I want, but it ain't going in. Practically speaking, she may as well not even have a hole there if she's not wet. Am I to assume that rapists carry KY with them? How do the mechanics of rape work? I don't get it.

1 AnswerComedy8 years agoBest Military Concept?
I've been watching this "Military Top Ten" documentaries. They're about the top ten tanks, top ten fighter-planes, top ten warships, etc. What if we don't limit ourselves to weapons of destruction? Top ten weapons or strategies or training schools or concepts of any kind.
Give a countdown of 10, or just your top #1, or anything in between. As a former Sergeant of Marines, here's my top 3:
3: Artillery. It's not called the "King of Battle" for nothing. Artillery is responsible for about 60% of all casualties in all wars since its inception. Air power, battleships, infantry, tanks, and everything else other than artillery accounts for the other 40%
2: Drones. Never have so few risked so little to kill so many.
1: The Camel Back. 100 oz of hydration easily carried on your back (even with a full pack and/or body armor) available via a mouth-activated nozzle that hangs over your shoulder. The second best thing about water: add sugar for extra calories when fire watch stole all your rations on the first night of "The Crucible".

2 AnswersOther - Hardware8 years agoOK: Less ambiguous question?
Why do males choose to be monks... vice priests? Does priesthood require a BS or BA like military officer hood? Or is there a different reason some become monks while others are priests?
2 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhere do Catholic monks come from?
Priests and Bishops and other men of the cloth choose their path. Where do monks and nuns come from? What is the typical scenario that leads to one entering monk/nun - hood, and what ceremonial rite-of-passage inducts them into monk/nun - hood?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoTotally non-troll question about the Roman Catholic hierarchy?
I just read that bishops and priests/monsignors are on a different... "career path" if you will. Also it is my understanding that monks (and how is a monk different from a friar?) are not the same as priests. These questions are riddled with assumptions based on what I've heard about Catholics (which is suprisingly mostly good). I'll try to disclose assumptions that I know I'm making, but I may be making assumptions, and don't know it. Feel free to correct me if you think the latter is the case.
Each "Question x" may contain multiple questions, but hopefully, the questions will be on approximately the same topic.
One major assumption is that there are three branches of the Catholic ministry: monkhood, priesthood, and bishop hood. I'll be using the word, "servant" when referring to all three.
Question 1: How does one become a bishop if bishops aren't chosen from the rank of priests? ASSUMPTION: Priest is your initial "rank" upon formally entering the service of the Church (unless you're a woman--nun = female monk, right?).
Question 2: Unless I am wrong (which is conceivable), only the bishop side of the family tree is eligible to be Pope. Why not consider monsignors, or for that matter, why not consider highly regarded monks?
Question 3: How does one become a monk? How come some people "sign on the dotted line" (yes, I know it's WAY more involved and complicated than that--just as more involved as "signing on the dotted line" means becoming a US Marine; MEPS, Boot Camp, etc.)... How come some people sign up, and become priests... but then there are monks? Where do monks come from?
Question 4: Assuming I'm right that monsignors cannot become Pope, and also that their spiritual integrity are equal to cardinals and arch bishops (who can be Pope) then: Wouldn't it reduce the tension that politics may be at work if those cardinals who vote for a new pope can ONLY choose from the ranks of monsignors? Or maybe only monsignors can vote, but only from the ranks of cardinals and arch bishops?
Question 5: I find it interesting that you believe in a Holy Trinity, and also have three branches of service: monkhood, priesthood, or bishop hood (only the third group may be pope, right?). Are each of these branches of service in the Church knowingly aligned with One of the Trinity? My guess: Monks are the Holy Ghost. Priests are the Son. Bishops are the Father.
Question 6: If the answer to Question 5 is, "Yes, there is an intentional division of Catholic service branches that mirrors the Holy Trinity." Then: Like each other, can one of the Holy Trinity match a Catholic branch of service, and then they both match a contemporary branch of government? In other words, could the Father match the bishop service, and they also both match the Legislative branch of government, and the same goes with Executive and Judicial branches? And yes, I did have the urge to name the Father at the top of the Executive branch, but then I thought this: "The Father is the one who makes the rules in the first place, right? That makes him the lawmaker--the Legislative branch."
Question 7: I just thought of this: is the difference between priesthood and bishophood equivalent to enlisted vs. officer? If so, then where the hell do monks come from? And what ARE friars?
Question 8: [DELETED/OFF-TOPIC] -- PM me if you'll answer questions about the Church other than its hierarchy that I genuinely wonder about.
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIf you are a Creationist?
I'm looking for an honest answer here, not an atheist/theist debate. If you are a Creationist, and you believe that the Earth/Universe is 5,000 - 6,000 years old, then how does your faith explain:
1. Carbon-14 dating?
2. We can see light from stars that are millions of light years away, but by definition that light can't be seen by us until that light has been traveling for millions of years?
3. Supernovae that can only happen after a star has been shining for billions of years?
And other absolutely overwhelmingly provable science that says otherwise? If your answer that science is somehow evil, then why are you using a computer? If your answer is that Satan injected flaws into science, then why does your computer work?
