answer: the "trial" is fabrication. Pilate was removed by ROME for being a brutal tyrant. How brutal would someone have to be to have been removed by Rome? He wouldn't have caved to a crowd of conquered Jews.

The only kind of film I could imagine that would portray Pontius Pilate as trying to be good and trying to placate a mob would be an apologetic Christian film and not any form of documentary from historians. In fact I know that historical record disproves your claims.

Roman records and Pilate's own writings reveals him to be the cruel man he was. He lined the streets of Jerusalem with the crucified bodies of Jews. He crucified so many Jews that entire forests in far reaching countries in the Roman empire were completely felled of their trees, and he was removed from office for his cruelty by a people who crucified people along roadsides and set lions upon slaves for entertainment!

It clearly wasn't a good guy who depicted him as being a good guy..or as being the meek powerless ruler who was trying to placate the Jews whom he had been persecuting and disrespecting right and left. There was no reason for the narrative that claimed he pardoned a prisoner for Passover..no such custom ever existed and a man who was persecuting Jews clearly wouldn't be one to seek to pacify the Jews. No messiah hopeful would have threatened Jews since the messiah is supposed to be a humble ruler whose wise and just rule ushers in universal peace and breaks the yolk of oppression. The early Christian alliance with Rome instead brought exile and the murder of more than a million Jews later under Titus.

I don't know what fantasy land you're living in..but objective evidence of historical record clearly shows him to be about a good a guy as Goebbels.

Pilot was a military guy who job was to keep this rebel provence peaceful. Hard job when King Herod did not get on having Pilot as Governor in overall charge. Pilot was just as he admitted that Jesus had not committed a crime the warranted the death sentence. The Chief Priest paid the crowd to ask for Jesus to be killed. Pilot gave in to pressure that was put upon him
