My computer is saying it has a different processor?
Hey guys, a couple months ago my computer got a bad virus and I had to restore it to complete factory settings. I noticed when I was doing a windows performance test that my computers processor score has gone done from 7.1 to 4.9. Instead of a 2,83 ghz quadcore it now says 1.73ghz quadcore, What is wrong with it? And is this affecting my computers performance?

Odds are that when you did the restore (which wiped the hard drive) the new install did not have the driver for the processor. So instead it is using a generic driver for the "chipset" (all the build in chips on the system board). This could cause Windows to not be able to properly identify the chips. Whether it is actually running at the slower speed is impossible to tell. It may be working fine, but is just missing the information it needs to display the correct numbers (they come from the driver).
Check the web site of whoever makes the PC. They should have all the drivers for that specific make and model. Reinstall the chipset drivers and you should be the correct information back. Update all the other drivers while you are there.
