Amateur Radio forums?

Hi. Are there any Amateur radio forum's that is useful? I'm getting kinda sick of sighing up to these forums and not being able to post anything or even reply to a post. That is why I'm sighing up so I can actually use them.

I'm in the process of studying for my Ham Radio license and have been listening to ham radio for a while now and as I'm unable get on the air it would be nice if I can join in with the hobby on forums and talk to other hams as I have lots of questions and ideas and to learn more.

Are there any Ham forums that I can start using when I sign up?

Thanks...

    Hi there

''Are there any Amateur radio forum's that is useful? ''

Unfortunately , NO , I cannot recommend any forum.

Combined CB/HAM forums are run by people that do not care about violating federal laws, and so there are no decent Hams that lurk in those places.

    (eg Transmission 1 , CQ-Friends)

All forums are run by ego maniacs and people on power trips.

As one specific example of this , , I was banned from QRZ forums because I offered advice to a 'Newb' Ham.

My technical advice was in contrast (but 100% correct) with that of another Hams (which was a moderator) advice which was 20 years out of date.

This moderator (Glen K9STH ) sent me a message and told me to ''shut the %/% up or I will ban you''.

So I wrote to the owner of QRZ -- (Fred AA7BQ) and made a complaint about the abusive message from Glen.

Fred then turned savage (severe mental issues) banned me for life , and he said that because I have never bought any products through QRZ that he is not going to listen to me.

I said, I thought QRZ was a free service and no where is it said that purchases were a requirement of membership.

He then arranged lawyers to harass me threatening to take me to court.

This was based because I forwarded Glens abusive message to Fred without Glens permissions.

(I checked the forum rules and usage agreement and it is not forbidden to do this)

I told Fred's lawyers , ''Send me the court papers and I WILL COME. , because I would love to tell in court , and in turn the whole world , exactly the way that QRZ really works.''

Oddly enough , even after 2 years I still haven't received my court papers.

I still however have my life ban from QRZ , but hey , there is nothing good going on over there...just a bunch of old men , that like to impress the inexperienced.

Try QRZ.com and numerous Yahoo and Google groups. Good luck on getting the license. Be wary of most of the CB forums, since they often show a blatent disregard of the law. Check out the ARRL.org for the national organization. There are a great many amateur sites listed if you google them. A little patience should net you some good results. I invite you to our LVRAC.org site to see some ow what we are doing. Check out the links section. Good luck and I'll look forward to hearing you on. de WB0KSW
