How can I find out what day I will be taking the NCLEXRN? Will they tell me after receiving my application?
I want to confirm I understand this correctly - I'm graduating this December, and I know about all the stuff I have to submit to send off my application to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam, and I understand after they receive and approve my application, they will send me what choice of dates I have to take the exam, correct?? I am just trying to make vacation plans after graduation, and I really wish I knew what days I will have to choose from. I have looked through the all the websites and I have found which testing centers I have to choose from, but I still have no idea roughly what day it will be, all I hear from my school and friends is that it be will "mid january" ... any one know exactly where I can find more info on test dates? Or do I just literally have to wait till they approve my application? Thank so much to all who answer! Oh FYI this is for the California RN license (I'll be testing in the San Francisco location)

National Registry uses the same testing centers, the Pearson Vue centers. Mid-January is probably the time that you can sign up for a testing date.
Basically, you are competing for days against other people who want to test. They can have only so many people test at a time and they offer a variety of tests. When I signed up for my paramedic test, I could test the next day or there was 1 or 2 days available, but none of them really worked for me due to work. I had to test about 4 weeks later.

Usually they will send you your 'authorization to test' once the board of nursing receives proof of your graduation from your school. Once you have your authorization to test, you contact the testing facility and pay your test fee- if using a test center like Pearson Vue, you can schedule it online. They will tell you what days/times are available and you choose your own appointment. If you have questions about this process, contact your state board of nursing. They probably have more information on their website about the process as well.
