Seniors. Have the fireworks started going off?

where you live?

I hate it when I start seeing the damn things on sale in the shops, because I know there will be no peace until 5th November, and then there are all the parties leading up to Christmas.

The streets around where I live have sounded like a bad night in Beirut for about 10 days now.

Isn't it about time our Government banned the sale of fireworks to the public?

After all, they've banned just about everything else.

I agree 100% with you!! Kids have no idea how easy it is to lose a hand or a few fingers with a single firecracker. They should all be banned..

We have the same problem here, Oregon, USA, the fireworks are supposed to be used on the 4th of July, but they start selling them about a month earlier. So we start hearing fireworks in early June all the way through the 4th and then some.

I can't even imagine how much money these people spend on fireworks, the average cost for just one night is about $40.00. The State of Oregon only allows "safe" fireworks which aren't all that noisy but many people get their fireworks in Washington where they still allow the ones that explode in the sky and sound like a gunshot.

I do get irritated about all the noise, but I don't want anymore things being banned or against the law so I just try to grin and bear it even if my whole body jumps every time a really loud one goes off.

    I loooove fireworks.

I love prof displays and I love setting off my own!

It's awfully tame now and I understand how difficult it would be to keep kids safe now with so many stupid parents who don't have a brain in their head and have procreated.

We had a healthy respect for what those fireworks could do! I never was hurt and I never had a close call.

Keep this little gem quiet, but if you make a lego car with wide stance wheels and put a bottle rocket in the back end it will go about a half block before it explodes. Then, being Legos, you can put it all together and do it again! ;oD

Yes - around here, some have been set off - by those presumably deciding to have Halloween parties early - before going to more public displays NEXT weekend. To coincide with 'brought fwd' 5 November parties - Saturday & Sunday - with more bangs, crackers, flares and rockets going up in smoke than one thought we had money to borrow or waste.

I can't imagine any Government in control of our Houses of Westminster trying BAN Guy Fawkes Night(s) - surely ?

That would be like trying to ban Santa Claus from Xmas - would it not ?

    A step TOO far..surely ?

Lol Grumpy, a village near us had a combined Halloween and Bonfire night last Saturday.

Thankfully it was a few miles away so it was relatively quiet here.

I agree that firework displays are better handled and contained by organisers rather than randomly sold to Joe Public.

I used to dread going to school around that time as the kids used to recklessly throw bangers at us nervous types and laughed when we jumped a mile high and screamed. Seems like this type of thing still goes on despite the warnings and reprimands.

Roll on when it's all over for another year.

Ha , ha you crack me up. I too hate those darn things. I am amazed they haven't been banned by the government just like you said just about everything else has been. Besides most of the fireworks are make in China so unless they make them here in the US I'm still going to hate them. Where I live they haven't started setting them off yet but I can never tell with so many gun shots going off now & then it's hard to tell. rkl

I wish fireworks were allowed to be set off in a planned arena by professionals who do shows with fireworks as a profession. I loathe that people can buy a variety of them and even tho the law says not in the city, they do it anyway. Drives one of my dogs crazy!

    Mercifully,no.

    I loathe pyrotechnical demonstrations.

When I lived in California, my house was across the bay from Sea World.

They had fireworks every bloody night!
