Did Jesus hate other people?

I don't know how to explain this any clearer. My friends main argument is that you can find that God hated others (such as Esau) and that since God and Jesus are of one (John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,), then Jesus must have hated too.

Please use scripture to base your answers. It's not a poll it's a question.

    The passage you cite is most fully "Jacob (or Israel) have I loved, but Esau have I hated."

    What God was saying is that He showed preference for Jacob, who desired the birthright, and an inheritance from Almighty God, even though he sought it by the wrong means, more than Esau who had the birthright, and lightly esteemed it, trading it for a bowl of beans when he was hungry.

    In an absolute sense, God does not hate anyone, and desires their ultimate well-being; but He has warned that those who turn aside to evil and do harm to others and deceive and despise God will incur His wrath, and be punished along with the Devil and his angels.

    You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;

    with you the wicked cannot dwell.

    The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;

    you hate all who do wrong.

    You destroy those who tell lies;

    bloodthirsty and deceitful men

    the Lord abhors.

    Psalm 5:4-6

    There are six things the Lord hates,

    seven that are detestable to him:

    17 haughty eyes,

    a lying tongue,

    hands that shed innocent blood,

    18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,

    feet that are quick to rush into evil,

    19 a false witness who pours out lies

    and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

    Proverbs 6:16-19

    “Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to his ways, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, O house of Israel? For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! "

    Romans 9:12-17

    Good News Translation (GNT)

    Romans 9:11-17

    But in order that the choice of one son might be completely the result of God's own purpose, God said to her, “The older will serve the younger.” He said this before they were born, before they had done anything either good or bad; so God's choice was based on his call, and not on anything they had done. 13 As the scripture says, “I loved Jacob, but I hated Esau.”

    14 Shall we say, then, that God is unjust? Not at all. 15 For he said to Moses, “I will have mercy on anyone I wish; I will take pity on anyone I wish.” 16 So then, everything depends, not on what we humans want or do, but only on God's mercy. 17 For the scripture says to the king of Egypt, “I made you king in order to use you to show my power and to spread my fame over the whole world.”

    Matthew 22:29

    Good News Translation (GNT)

    29 Jesus answered them, “How wrong you are! It is because you don't know the Scriptures or God's power.

    It is easy to find fault in anything but if you are lookind for something that adds value to your life u will get it.

    James 1:5

    Good News Translation (GNT)

    5 But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all.

    God bless,

    Yes GOD hates Esau who is the father of the Edomites, and he hates Amalek which are the Amalekites in the bible. He wasn't too fond of the Canaanites either.

    God didn't hate Esau, or the people of Sodom and Gemorah, or the people who drowned in Noah's Flood.

    He just wanted to punish them for their transgressions against His Laws. No hate involved. That would effectively put people (supposedly his creations) into straight rivalry with Him, as if they were His Equals.

    But then, he supposedly made us in his image, and gave us free will. So, maybe we are his equals....

    He Hated Pharisees and Sadducee as he said: "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? (Matthew 3:7)

    and guess what, Paul is a Pharisee and New Christians believed in Paul more than believing in Jesus.

    No Jesus never hated anyone. He loved them all and even though they wanted to kill him. They couldn't. But when Jesus was arrested, tortured and crucified, he still didn't give into anger. And on the cross he said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."
