Why do some Christians choose not to vote?

I am a born again Christian.

I am here to say that Obama only lost the last election 4 years ago because an estimated 20 million Christians did not vote.

I know Romney is a Mormon, but when it comes to politics that is a non factor. Romney does not want to suppress Christianity nor does he want to convert anyone to Mormonism.

Obama is the most anti-christian president in the entire history of the United States. The president has the ability to appoint Supreme Court justices that will shut down Christianity slowly but surely.

My point is, casting no vote is a vote for Obama. If you do not vote, you are keeping this anti-christian liberal president in office, and you cannot complain about how this country is straying for Christianity day by day, because you brought it to yourself by not voting.

Christians comply with the God of the Bible, Who condemns these practices. I abhor the very thoughts of abortion, which is murder. Would you adore to look your unborn child sucked out of your womb, and in a botched abortion, that child remains to be residing, however is allowed to die even as you and the medics watch? How might you vote for someone who approves of this? Additionally, two ladies can not make a child, and two men cannot make a little one, so common experience on my own makes homosexual alliances so very unsuitable. A person can not, and ought not, vote for individuals who espouse these values. God will preserve us all accountable at some point.

Heard someone that less than HALF of adults vote regularly. Most aren't even registered.

But you're trolling anyway - 1/10 for the attempt.

They know they can't vote someone into power who will change the constitution and ban all other religions and put atheists in prison, so they don't bother.

You think I'm joking, I'm not, this is what happens in places like Iran and Egypt, different religion, same fundamental idiots.

We liberals are not anti-Christian, we simply recognize there is a separation of church and state, and we'd like to leave it that way.

I don't vote because I don't care! The earth is not worth caring about or saving IMO.

Think about it this way, Did Jesus or for that matter his apostles get involved in Politics?. Well, certain events marked in the bible clearly show us the answer to this question. For example, shortly after Jesus’ baptism at about the age of 30, the Devil offered him the position of world ruler. Later in his ministry, a crowd wanted to make him their king. Still later, people tried to turn him into a political activist.

What does the bible tell us about the world ruler?(1 John 5:19) "We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one" (see also Rev 12:9-12). The Gospels state that the Devil offered Jesus rulership over “all the kingdoms of the world.” Think of how much good Jesus could have done for suffering mankind if he had wielded the power of a world ruler! What politically oriented individual sincerely concerned with mankind’s advancement could resist such an offer? But Jesus refused it.—Matthew 4:8-11. (John 14:30) . . .I shall not speak much with you anymore, for the ruler of the world is coming. And he has no hold on me

Many of Jesus’ contemporaries were desperate for a ruler who could solve their economic and political problems. Impressed by Jesus’ abilities, the people wanted Jesus to join the political process. What was his reaction? Gospel writer John states: “Jesus, knowing they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone.” (John 6:10-15)

(John 18:36) . . .Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.. . .Clearly, Jesus refused to become involved in politics.

Political activist. Note what happened days before Jesus was put to death. Disciples of the Pharisees, who favoured independence from the Roman Empire, joined by Herodians, members of a political party favouring Rome, approached Jesus. They wanted to force him to take a political position. They asked if the Jews should pay taxes to Rome.

Mark recorded Jesus’ response: “‘Why do you put me to the test? Bring me a denarius to look at.’ They brought one. And he said to them: ‘Whose image and inscription is this?’ They said to him: ‘Caesar’s.’ Jesus then said: ‘Pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.’” (Mark 12:13-17) Commenting on the reason for Jesus’ response, the book Church and State—The Story of Two Kingdoms concludes: “He refused to act the part of a political messiah and carefully established both the boundary of Caesar and that of God.”

Problems such as poverty, corruption, and injustice did not leave Christ unmoved. In fact, the Bible shows that he was deeply touched by the pitiful state of the people around him. (Mark 6:33, 34) Still, Jesus did not start a campaign to rid the world of injustices, although some tried hard to get him embroiled in the controversial issues of the day. Today, Christians who follow his example pray the lords prayer "Let your Kingdom come, Let your will take place as in heaven, also upon the EARTH". That Kingdom that we pray for is a Government. We clearly understand that none of the worlds problems can be fixed by imperfect humans, in fact, meddling in politics causes disunity among God's people!

(1 Corinthians 1:10) . . .Now I exhort you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that you should all speak in agreement, and that there should not be divisions among you, but that you may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.

For how can we pray to God to bring his government then at the same time support a human government that God clearly stated would be crushed and put an end to by his Kingdom? Daniel 2:44

What secular writings say about Christians and Politics in the first century:

“Early Christianity was little understood and was regarded with little favor by those who ruled the pagan world. . . . Christians refused to share certain duties of Roman citizens. . . . They would not hold political office.”—On the Road to Civilization, A World History (Philadelphia, 1937), A. Heckel and J. Sigman, pp. 237, 238.

“The Christians stood aloof and distinct from the state, as a priestly and spiritual race, and Christianity seemed able to influence civil life only in that manner which, it must be confessed, is the purest, by practically endeavouring to instil more and more of holy feeling into the citizens of the state.”—The History of the Christian Religion and Church, During the Three First Centuries (New York, 1848), Augustus Neander, translated from German by H. J. Rose, p. 168.

Source(s): Simply put, the only hope for mankind is God's Kingdom. This is what we pray for. If we put our trust in the governments of this world, who are we truly putting faith in?
