Retaking my drivers license picture?

Is there any way to just go in and get your picture retaken? I'm turning 21 this year and my license is expiring on my birthday. I was going to hold off on renewing my license for about a month because I will be getting my braces off then. But now I realize that I wont have a valid form of ID and being 21 and having braces I will definitely be getting carded when buying drinks and what not so I will need ID. If i go in and renew my license before my birthday and before I get my braces off, will I be able to go back and get my picture retaken after I get my braces removed? I just don' want to have braces in my drivers license photo for the next however many years. So can I go in just to get my picture retaken?

TIA

Update:

You can definitely smile in your drivers license photo in my state haha, but I'm in California so maybe it's different where you are.You can very clearly see my teeth in the license picture I have now.

They are not going to retake your picture simply because you don't like it. Have you ever heard of anyone who was happy with their license picture.? I haven't. Your license picture makes little difference in the larger scheme of things. . If you don't visit bars, you won't have to be concerned about that part of it.

Pretend to lose it. They will than retake your picture. If you go in and ask if they'll do a retake because you don't like your old pic, they tell you to get lost.

Why are you showing your teeth anyways on an ID? In my state, your not allowed to smile on your drivers license photo, I tried.

Also, on U.S. passport photo submissions, they wont accept one with a smile, only a natural expression.
