Huge difference between xbox on 480 & 720 TV?

Currently I have a 480p Sony television in my basement. My dad has a 720 TV with HD capabilities. I was thinking about possibly investing in an HD cable for my xbox. Would it be worth the money? My friend said it really isn't and there is definitely a difference, not a big one. How much nicer does the Xbox (or any system/entertainment for that matter) look on a 720 HD TV in comparison to a older 480 non-HD TV?

    Huge upgrade going from 480 to 720.

    Can you use just a HDMI cable? Order a Media Bridge cable from Amazon for $9-$20 and try it on your fathers TV. Lot cheaper than even MOH Advanced Warfighter.

    The bigger the TV the better it looks. You won't see much difference on 22" TV but if you have a 42" or bigger you will see a major difference.
