What to do for a 9 hour layover at Newark airport?

I had a miserable time trying to book a flight, and was left only one option that left me a 9 hour layover at Newark. I have never been to Newark airport, but I hear that it's a miserable place.

I have a 9 hour and five minute layover. What in the world can I do for that long there? My layover is during the day, and I will be flying solo. I will also be carrying my laptop case, and a very small carry on bag.

Pay for the private lounge. You can stretch out, eat, take a shower. Someone suggested that it is just 16 miles from NYC. Forget that. Sandy just gummed everything up.

Newark airport isn't as miserable as some people will lead you to believe. People will tell you that because its smaller then the other international airports in the area. I've never had a problem with it, though.

They will have charging stations for your laptop and stores to shop in. You can also spring for one of the first class lounge and get some rest, something to eat, or a shower.

In most cases, the baggage will probably be examine via Newark to Rome out of your beginning station. In case you depart the airport, just go away your luggage on the airport. The ticket agent at your home airport should examine your baggage by means of to Rome. Regards, Dan

With that long of a layover, I'd look and see if your airline has a private airport lounge. They have much more comfortable chairs, usually free drinks, free wifi and most have areas where you can change clothes and/or clean up.

Sleep, surf the web, make some friends, check out the airport. Just chill. Bring a LOT of books and an iPod or other portable music player.

depends on when u r traveling, NYC is close by but hurricane Sandy messed it up pretty bad, but if you are not leaving for a while I would head into New York, or if it is sooner or the weather is bad buy an airline club pass have a few beverages and stretch out!!

You could ride back and forth on the monorail.

If you are willing to spend a little money, you could take a bus or train to New York City.
