Severe burning pain in ankles when running?

My ankles hurt extremely bad when i am running. At first i thought it was my running shoes, but i used a different pair and they still hurt. I know its not strained or anythin, it only hurts when i run after about 1/2 through. It gets to the point where i have to stop. I tried stretching more and new shoes , but there still hurt. What would you suggest?

'The first suspect in this mystery remains your shoes. Advice: find a reputable running shoe store...not a bargain shoe outlet...and ask the guys to "fit" you to the right shoe for your foot.

You don't have to buy them there; you will at least know what will work for you. Some outlets will even allow you to try them out for a few weeks...and return them if they are not Perfect.

Second suspect is your socks. It sounds like blistering or preblistering may be from too much friction. Wearing a thin pair of socks..nylon or synthetic ..underneath your regular pair. This allows for some motion between the socks layers, and reduces the amount of rubbing against your skin.

Another tactic or two...try vaseline or similar friction avoiding gell, or use a bandaid on the area most "offended" by your shoes.

I have even heard of people using duck tape, but would not recommend this as the first choice.

Don't give up, there are shoes that seem to fit that come right out of the box. The shoes produced today are like the space shuttle compared to a model T ford. Take advantage of the benefits of scientific shoe development, and enjoy your time running and walking.
