Is there a left wing party in the US?
Genuinely left wing, socialist to center, because the US seems a very right wing country, the two main parties being right wing, and no other parties seem to make the news. Are there people who are voted in that aren't a democrat or republican?
Thanks

The US is very much a two-party system of government. On my ballot, there were candidates for several other parties, including the Libertarian and Green parties. There are left wing parties, but only the Democratic and Republican parties will receive significant votes. This is mostly due to concerted action by the two parties to exclude others from both debates and ballots.
There are self-identified independents serving in both houses of the national legislature. They generally caucus with one of the two parties, but are also usually quite proud of their chosen status. They are quite unique in American politics. The other common way to have an independent running is for a candidate to lose a primary election to an extreme member of his own party. Said candidate then chooses to run as an independent in the general election. These three-way races are sometimes the most interesting races.
IMO, the main problem with US politics is the ridiculous amounts of money involved. Both parties have become beholden to corporations. Out government is now, effectively, a corporatocracy. This makes for strange bedfellows. Both liberals and libertarians tend to agree that the money in US politics is a bad thing.

no and the reason why is that the two extreme right wing parties the republican and the
democrats are allowed under american law to spend the disgusting sum of $2billion dollars
on their campaigns to get elected.
just think that amount of money would provide half a million jobseekers $4,000 a year
while trying to find a job.
meanwhile any new party like a party of the the people and for the people has no chance
of even getting a foothold on the election ladder before they are shot down in flames
by the might of rich peoples money.
there is only one solution my friend and it is growinger stronger by the day and that is
revolution.

There are right wingers and there are moderates or progressives. There is no left wing.
The right wing is against anything that is not right wing while progressives will work with just about anyone who has a good idea. The right wing in the US is almost a despotically un-American system of rule with no room for compromise.

Socialist Worker & the Socialist parties of America, and the Green party, are both your best best and your only bet.
It has been maybe a century before any third party won senators and was taken seriously, the last one would be the Progressive Party of 1924-46.
