Why does my 2002 Ford Taurus heater not work?
So our heater stopped working on our car last year. The fans all work, just no warm air blows in the car, whereas before it would get quite hot. We hit a bump in the road last year and had to repair the engine coolant system. Afterwards the heater still didn't work. Later, the engine coolant container was leaking and had to replace that too. The mechanic said the heater would work after the coolant container was fixed. So we had it fixed the other day and the heater still doesn't work.
Anybody have any clues on this issue? Thanks in advance.
Really appreciate the advice her from people who actually do have a clue. It's seems odd to me that it would suddenly not work. Clogs don't just happen immediately, though they certainly could.
I'll check to see if there is some kind of hot/cold lever, but I got no idea where it might be or what it would look like.
I was just getting a tune up done on this car the other day and was charged about 200$ and they say they need to spend another 220 to complete the tune up. That's pretty pricey in my books!

could be air in heater hose lines not letting coolant to move in them. also there is a hot/cold lever that changes air flow in car. see if it is working. most cars have the lever on top of the heater box in engine compartment on passenger side of car.
could look like one of these. http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=A0...

could be vacuum controlled or electric.

First make sure that there is coolant in the car. Check the coolant reservoir and make sure it is at the proper level. Take the radiator cap off ( when the engine is cool) and top off the radiator. If there are bubbles in your cooling system they can clog your heater core leaving you without heat. Leave the radiator cap off and start the car for about 5 minutes, this will work any bubbles out of the system. Put the cap on and check for heat, if none look for a look for a hot(red) cold (blue) switch like someone above me said. If you still dont have heat you may need to buy some coolant system flush and flush it out. make sure you only use distilled water to mix your radiator fluid with, minerals and salts in tap/drinking water can deposit and clog your heater core.

Because the heater core is cloged . It mite he able to be blown clear. Or it will have to he replaced. It is w very common problem on this car. Due to pore coolant mixture.
