A day or two if we are lucky.
It kind of depends on the swing states like Ohio and Florida.
Ohio may have a lot of provisional votes (like over 100,000) and if they have to count those then we need to wait 10 days!
A provisional ballot is for when someone requested an absentee ballot, but doesn't use it. They don't want to double count someone's vote, so they can't vote normally at the polls..... they need to use a provisional ballot instead.
And you have to wait 10 days to see if they really did vote via absentee ballot... (for the absentee ballots to come through the mail).
Anyway, Ohio sent out 1 million absentee ballots, so if 10% of them want to vote on election day instead, then that would be 100,000 provisional ballots.
The race could be THAT CLOSE that we need those ballots.....
Sooo...... it may be a long time before we know the winner.

If it goes smoothly, by 10 or 11 PM.
If it's really close or if there are poll problems in swing states and there needs to be recounts-- probably not till Wednesday morning hopefully.
Though things got so screwed up in 2000 election because it was so close, it too 27 days to sort it out. Dang, I hope that doesn't happen again.
