Can anyone estimate what a handyman now makes per hour?

Can anyone give me an estimate what a handyman makes? He is not a contractor, does not have a contractor license. He builds stairs, fixes floors, things like that.

I would really appreciate some ideas of what he makes per hour in this economy in North Carolina.

Thank you

He makes whatever the local market (like a 20-mile radius) will bear. So if there are lots of people competing for those jobs, he'll make less, and if there just aren't that many of them to go around, he'll make more.

Around here handymen make from $30 to $80 dollars an hour.

Well Young Person seems you want to get your Hands on the Rough Jobs but very Lucrative.

On Big Jobs Like Floors Stay awy from Per Hour the reason is you must figure in total Area of The Floor Then you must figure total cost of Materials Then harder part comes in now

How Much Time will it take to finish and How many people will you need to help put that Floor in but also is there any REINFORCING OF THOSE floors you also have to figure that in.

Here How you figure this Out ok they be all in numeral Order

    1.Total Area Of Floor

    2. Any Special Reinforcements needed for Floor?

3.Total Material Needed. For this Floor

    4.Manual Labor Costs(Haul Away Materials)

    5. Shipping Costs if needed on Delivery of Materials and Fuel Surcharge.

6.How Many PEOPLE YOU NEED TO HIRE

7.Delays Costs what if Materials are Late on Day you wanted it this you must Subtract a Percentage off the Bill.

Yes being a Handy man is Good But you Must Look at the Pros and Cons What You See and Reading is The Real Truth No Gimmicks. No Misleading statements This is What you must do on every single Job.

Nick is spot on, so the answer is, as always (and don't you hate this!), it depends.

In good times or in affluent areas when everyone is busy the price is high. Lean times or poorer areas with lots of layoff etc, handymen spring up out of the woodwork as a ways to make ends meet. Your mileage may vary with quality though.

Agree that $30 is around bottom for a pro with $40-50 seeming to be average these days.

BTW if he is making staircases he must be quite a good craftsman as this is not a job for the uninitiated!

Curious wording of the question, I can't figure out if you are trying to estimate what his bill might be or scouting out a potential marriage partner lol!!

    Good luck either way :-)
