Serious period question... (any GYNO 's out there)?
Throughout the duration of my period, the blood smells strongly of a rather fishy smell. It has been that way for as long as I have had my period, which is 7 years now.
Is that normal?
If so, why is that and will I be able to get rid of it?
If not, what can be causing it and how can I get rid of it?
No rude comments, please.
Thank you!
Well, I mean, it has been that way since I first started getting it. And I keep myself very clean down there. I would imagine if it is something serious it would have made an impact of some sort already. Right?

A fishy odour is a sign of bacterial infection — these are often caused by douching, i.e. washing the inside of your vagina, so if you are doing that, stop!
A woman's natural discharge inhibits the growth of hostile bacteria. By cleaning your discharge away you would be creating an environment in which these bacteria can thrive — not a good idea. Any irritation will make your body produce extra discharge in an attempt to clear the problem. You shouldn't wash this discharge away (except maybe any that comes to the outside). Doing that is like picking at a scab. It will stop you healing.
Only wash yourself externally; never internally.

Unusual smells on your genitals are very common for basically anyone of any sex, especially a teenager.
It's probably the mixture of hormones, urine, blood, and sweat that's causing that smell. If it's bothering you, then the best thing to do would be to try and mask the smell with a perfume or deodorant. And, remember to clean that area regularly.
It could be more serious, but I seriously doubt it and any good gynecologist would tell you not to jump to any conclusions.

Have you asked your doctor about it? It might just be how you are.
Also, when you say 'very clean', make sure you're careful about cleaning too much. Your vagina needs to be at an optimal pH level and have the right amount of bacteria to keep it healthy. So don't douche or anything or use any special kind of wash unless directed by your doctor.
I would seriously urge you to see your doctor, though. She/he can tell you exactly what's going on with your body in regards to that. It may be nothing to worry about.
