Why do Republicans have such animosity towards math and science?
It's become clear by now that Republicans regard math and science as a "political party", not a place where you get your facts. Romney himself refused to believe what all the statisticians were saying about the election, and he's supposed to be the numbers guy. Nate Silver, a consummate statistician, got vilified by Republicans, accused of doing exactly the very things Republicans do, which is to make up stuff, instead of doing the hard math.
What evidence do Republicans today have at all that they possess any sophisticated math skills? At one time, they helped America put man on the moon, but that was 40 years ago, and now today a lot of them believe the moon landing was a hoax.
I love math and science too, and I'm still a registered Republican, by the way. But the party ideology has become openly hostile towards math and science. Of course there's going to be a lot of Republican professionals that use math and do science. Nonetheless, the syndrome stands.
I remember the time back in the 1950s and 1960s when math and science was celebrated as the key to American's retention of its superpower status. It's not like that any more. Science is being vilified more now than just about any other time in American history.

Pretty much all politicians suck at math. We don't elect nerds (like we should), we don't elect scientists and mathematicians.
The nerds I know tend not to be democrat fanboys or republican fanboys. The fanboys I know, whether ultra-liberals or rednecks, tend not to excel at math or science or in general logic / rational thinking.
Where I disagree with Silas is that i DO want my politicians to be good at math. Our leaders should ideally all be very smart and I don't mean by the worthless IQ test (and math talent isn't the only form of smart, but very smart people are smart all-around). Instead we have just average people (or in many cases worse) leading us. That's like playing team Chess and letting some random person make all the moves for the team instead of the grandmasters.

You know, if you go to an actual university, most of your strong political bias goes away as your work gets more and more abstract and symbolic - in other words, the deeper into math and science, the further away from the Democrat and Republican cores. That's in every major. The really lefty leftist Democrats are all doing work where you talk with people more and work with models less, like Communications students.
So really, I could ask why Democrats have such an animosity toward math and science as well.
The answer is that most people do. It's something you have to train yourself for. Most lawyers probably ask why we all hate learning more about our government and why their profession gets so much hate until we need them for something. It's like that with any profession.
The fact is that if our people that are good with math and science are doing it right - if they really know what they're talking about - then they can reduce everything to layman's terms. So if most people can get by day-to-day without having to use math and science, then there's a lot of smart people out there "dumbing it all down" for everyone else making it all possible. Too many, for there not to be at least a few Republicans.
What actually happened is that some Democrat pundits decided to do what we call "controlling the narrative" here in politics, and you believed it and are helping spread it here. In reality everyone's bad at just about everything. That's why people have to train and specialize to get good. I'm not implying that the Democrats are the only ones that do this, but they tend to do it in different ways.
So I'm okay with my political leaders sucking at math. As long as they're good at managing people and resources.

It's funny you say this because when O'Bama was lying to us about the cost savings and costs of BFD O'Bamacare and people were saying his figures don't add up I don't remember the Left being concerned about it!
Since it's passage everything people said about the cost has become true! The CBO has said it will cost 3 times more than we were told!
All the polls showed that O'Bama and Romney were with in between 2 to 3 points. How much did O'Bama win by? That would be 2 points!
Our math was pretty good during the Clinton admin when we had 4 straight budget surpluses and the single largest surplus in history! But I guess you forgot that because you give Clinton credit for that when all he did was sign the bills Republicans put in front of him! Clinton was smart enough to sign what the Republicans put in front of him will O'Bama be as smart?!

Really? So the math I used in my engineering job was either wrong or didn't exist? I'm glad you told me that cause now I have to tell my former employer (retired) that because you said this all the projects I worked on will have to be torn down and re-engineered!! O.K. but this is going to cost a lot of money even though a lot of project have been for twenty years and all still are!!

Polls have variables that cannot be engraved in stone until day of. He was hopeful, that's not anti-math. I would say anyone who believed Mann's hockey stick and how he silenced opposition to global warming as anti-science. Which party gutted Nasa? Pick and choose all you want.

Wait a minute. Your Messiah was the one who opening admitted he sucks at Math. This is probably partially the reason he kept babbling that Romney's plan "didn't add up"

Romney thinks the Americas were populated by hundreds of thousands of Jews before we came and they all slaughtered each other off right before Columbus arrived leaving no evidence of their ever even existing at all. Except the natives that remained who happen to have not so much as a smidgen of Jewish DNA. How's that for science?

I love math..not particularly science. But math was always something I excelled at.
I think I am going to have to ask for a link to support your opinion.

What? Is this a joke??
The Liberal party is the anti-science party.
How many anti-science/technology parties have arisen out of Liberalism? The Green Movement, the Hippie Movement, Peta, Socialism etc, etc...
Can you name a SINGLE conservative anti-science movement?
