Why do I have freckles?
I am Cameroonian, and I get freckles primarily on my face (around my nose/cheeks), but also get a few on the back of my hand. None of my parents have freckles, and they are both Cameroonian. All of my grand and great grand parents are Cameroonian as well. None of them have freckles. I wasn't born w/ freckles, but they began to appear when I was around 8. I have also noticed that during Summer time, a few more will pop up, and sometimes they disappear in the Winter. Sunscreen lessens the amount of new freckles I get.
Could it be a genetic mutation of some sort?

no its just DNA.
I have this huge dark splotch going down the side of my face and neck which isnt normal, but freckles are.
Its just DNA. ask a doctor if you think your freckles arent normal. some skin coloring or patterns could be sign of disease, but this isnt likely (dont want to scare you)
