National Rail out of Newcastle - how to get separate tickets?
I am very afraid because the "customer service" for National Rail reply says they will get back to me in 5 days to resolve my problem which will occur in 3!! I bought 2 rail tickets (yes, they are already purchased), one for myself and one for a friend. He is coming from the NCL airport, and I (who paid) will wait for him at Metro Center. The ticket acquistiion options appeared to be to have them mailed to you for a fee (not an option) or to pick them up. It just said "Newcastle" as the pickup option. I looked for the airport one - and could not see anything else for Newcastle other than "Necastle". it did not give a SECOND option of where to pickup the tickets for 2 different people, etc. He gets off his train and we both take "my" train from there. Problem is: What do I do to get him on his train? I am VERY worried as there was not enough information to allow me to put his name on a ticket, or figure out how to email him a ticket. There seemed to be nothing like that available. So I am worried that they will try to charge him for another ticketor something completely absurd. Fix me!? Very worried. Need knowledgeable info of solution, and perhaps a phone number where a real person could be reached to sort me out? I have traveled by rail before, but I've never had to buy tickets for separate journeys...and certainly not in another country with a different transaction culture.

Thats because the airport is served by the metro and is not a National Rail station.
Also the person who buys the tickets is the only one who can pick them up because you need the credit card used to book the tickets to claim them (except under some circumstances).
What ticket did you buy for your friend? What is the "from" and "to". I'm not too familiar with the arrangements of combined tickets but a quick check I could not find any through tickets.
If you have not yet collected the tickets you can phone whoever you bought them from and ask for them to be cancelled. Which website did you book with?
And the number for national rail inquiries is 08457 48 49 50

The answer is simply this. Newcastle Airport station is served by the Tyne and Wear Metro which is not covered by the National Rail ticketing system. Your friend will have to buy a ticket there for the short trip into central Newcastle. Further, he will have to buy another ticket to travel from the Newcastle Central Metro station, via the main station to the Metro* Centre until he meets you and you can hand him the ticket you have brought for the remainder of your journey.
*n I realise there may be a confusion in the use of the word Metro in 2 contexts. The 'Metro' light rail system is entirely different from the 'Metro' (shopping) Centre at Dunston

there are various such anomalies interior the practice ticketing gadget. it is likewise conceivable, from time to time to purchase a greater low fee fee ticket via utilising reserving purely a factor of the progression, and then makng a reserving for the the remainder of the progression. There are numerous opportunities for many journeys, and the "cogniscenti" seem to properly known the thank you to define the greater low fee concepts! ought to it is that as quickly as you e book a return, you're provided a fare for traveling bothways at a top time, and once you e book a single return, you could pick off top for one course? i ask your self what fare you ought to gain, in case you (as an occasion) you have been to objective reserving Paddington to Bristol and then Bristol to Cardiff? word that diverse commute circumstances will additionally grant greater low fee concepts.
