Does Walmart get inferior versions of electronics, compared to the same exact model #s @ Best Buy or Sears?

I know someone who works at Sears and she said the same model # item at Walmart is 'less exact, less quality' than the same thing at Sears, or Best Buy for instance. Is this true? I've also heard that certain devices which do not pass the stringent test specs, but still work fine, may go to the box warehouses but the elite ones go to the slightly pricier stores. But then I've also heard Sam's Club (which stocks essentially the same brands/models as walmart) carries top notch electronics gear...so I'm confused.

Anyone have credible info on this?

Update:

@BeepBeep,

That's what i would've thought, but I've heard things (that wouldn't surprise me if they were true) that make me wonder otherwise. Like a fictional example- Samsung only will ship out A or A+ tested models, but will ship A- tested models to walmart for 15% less, that kind of thing. Hmmm....

    I don't think they would be able to get away with that. The same model of a device is going to be the same regardless of where it's bought. I'm sure places like Wal-mart would have more lower-end models just because they tend to sell cheap stuff but the same model shouldn't be any different no matter where it's from.

    it really depends on product. u must compare specs - it will vary. walmart carries low end stuff.
